Restoration of a building facade in the center of Portland
This home in downtown Portland is a true architectural gem that needed a delicate but deep renovation. The old wooden cladding was badly damaged, the paint was peeling off, and parts of the facade had lost their density and airtightness. In addition, due to its design features, the building suffered from moisture accumulation under the cladding.
What was done
Complete dismantling of the worn-out siding.
A modern RainScreen ventilation system was installed, which allows air to circulate between the facade and the insulation – important for the humid climate of Oregon.
New James Hardie siding was installed and painted in a warm yellow shade, which gives the house a fresh look without losing its historic charm.
Replacement of windows with energy-efficient Milgard windows, which preserve the style of the facade but significantly improve thermal insulation.
Project features
The work was carried out in the cramped conditions of the city center.
The project combined restoration with modernization, preserving the character of the building.
Energy-efficient solutions and moisture-resistant technologies were used.
You can see it clearly in the photo
Before – peeling, deformed facade with obvious signs of wear and tear.
After – perfectly aligned panels, clear lines, contrasting colors, and neat geometry of the openings.
